Metallograph is an optical microscope equipped with a camera for both visual observation and photography of the structure and constitution of a metal or alloy. Metallography is the art and science at the same time of preparing a metal surface for analysis by grinding, polishing, and etching to reveal microstructual constituents. After preparation, the sample can be easily analyzed using optical microscope or electron microscope. Any skilled technician is able to identify alloys and predict material properties, as well as processing conditions by metallography alone.
