What's the Difference Between Thermo Electron and Thermo Fisher

I have received quite a few questions about Thermo products in the last few weeks. People are confused as to the company name issue with Thermo Electron, Thermo Scientific, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Thermo Orion, etc. This is all one in the same company!!! Thermo is a very large organization (I believe their company is over $10 Billion dollars). Up until last year, the official name of the company with Thermo Electron Corp., but in November of 2006 they acquired Fisher Scientific and are now called Thermo Fisher Scientific. To those of you who are looking for a laboratory product or accessory that may have been made by one of the companies that Thermo has acquired (about 200 I believe) will be hard pressed to search for that product under its original name. If, for example, you're looking for a Napco CO2 Incubator or a Neslab Circulator or a Spectronic Spectrophotometer, you will find that all roads on these items lead to Thermo, even though it may be difficult to locate these items on their own website. Microscopes.com has many thousands of laboratory consumable and equipment products, but we are trying to make our pages as navigateable as possible. Just type in the item you are searching for in our search box and if we carry it (or something like it) you will obtain results immediately. If you cannot find the exact item you're looking for, please let us know and we will do our best to find it for you.
