Rate-Zonal & Isopycnic Centrifugation
The density of the particles being separated are greater than the density of the solvent. Separation is based on Mass. For example larger particles will sediment faster. Sedimentation is the tendency for particles in suspension or molecules in a solution to settle out of the fluid in which they are entrained and come to rest against a wall. Isopycnic Centrifugation is when solvent density encompasses density of particles. The separation is based upon particle density.
