Salmonella is a gram negative rod shaped bacilli that can cause havoc and even death in mammals. Salmonella is named after Dr. Daniel E. Salmon, who with the aid of Theobald smith discovered this strain of bacilli. Salmonella is spread through the feces of mammals to other mammals.
